I know many people were put off by the lack-luster releases to come out this year on the Wii, myself included. The poor thing just seemed to sit there and collect dusk with it’s last generation graphics and lack of worthwhile titles. All the truly innovative games had already come out in 2007, while 2008 was just an overflow of terrible ports and casual games. Disappointing as it may be, I still haven’t given up on the Wii. There are some true gems coming out that I just can’t wait to get my hands on:
Fatal Frame IV
I loove survival horror, and I’ve always loved the Fatal Frame series. With interesting combat and unique plot twists (sans the second game). If you’re looking for great atmosphere you can’t go wrong with Fatal Frame. Can exorcising ghosts with a camera ever not be cool?
Trace Memory R
The sequel to Cing’s DS game. Stellar story telling and mystery solving gameplay make this something I really want.
Sin & Punishment 2
Still no Mother 3 release out of Japan, but Nintendo is bringing us a sequel to a classic shooter developed by Treasure. Solid rail shooter that looks like tons of fun.
Muramasa: The Demon Blade
Art style reminds me of 2D Okami, and it blows me away. I think I am most excited for this game, graphics look amazing with awesome motion control.
Madworld
Ultraviolence in a super stylized adventure game. I can’t wait!!
Kizuna
What looks to be an action adventure with awesome artwork, I want this game developed by Jaleco so very much!
No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle
Who didn’t see a sequel to the super stylish Suda51 game? I was a HUGE fan of the first game and Killer 7, so I’m especially excited for this. Robotic spider girls with jet packs and more beam saber combat, I can’t wait!!
Next year is shaping up to be a kickin’ year for Wii games, keep them coming Nintendo. Hope that helps all the Wii owners out there who are lost in a sea of Petz titles!
